Appalachian Trail, Miry Ridge Trail and Jakes Creek
August 20, 2016
15.5 Miles Total
12.6 New Miles
768.47 Total Smoky Miles to Date (Since November 2013)
169.50 Total Miles in 2016

This hike is one I would like to forget.  It rained the entire hike.  Miry ridge is very very narrow and my foot slipped off the side of the mountain and I barrel rolled until I hit two trees.  One with my leg and one with my head.  On the way down I went through a large thorn bush of some sort and who knows what else.  Luckily I was hiking with the group and two guys came down to get me and got me back up to the trail.  I sat for a minute evaluating my injuries then carried on because we still had 8 miles to go.  I didn't realize it at the time but I had a concussion.  On the way home I was struggling to stay awake so I called a friend to talk to to keep me awake.  Once I arrived home I didn't even carry my gear up because by this time my entire body was hurting like I had been hit by a mac truck. I reached my living room and sat down while still on the phone with my friend fell asleep.  So he came over around 8:00 pm to check on me and could tell that my head injury was pretty bad.  I couldn't hold my eyes open and couldn't answer questions or make sense at all.  I ended up sleeping the next 3 days.

There are not many pictures because of the rain and the fall.  It was a challenging hike to say the least.  I'm just glad it is marked off my map and I never have to do it again!

This is where I landed

"Hike Like A Woman is a community dedicated to inspiring women to hit the trials.  Outdoor women inspiring each other, it's what we're all about"

I have been following Hike Like A Woman almost since the creation of the company.  It's a great group of women who inspire each other daily.

We share our journeys.  Ask questions.  Tell each other about new and exciting gear and opportunities.

I will be writing articles, testing gear, leading hikes and hopefully inspiring even more women to get outdoors!!!

I will post links to my articles on my blog :)
