I had waited all year for the return of the wildflowers and my return trip to White Oak Sinks!  White Oak Sinks is the closest thing to heaven on earth!  I am always amazed that these flowers all grow in this area and how many different types there are in this one small area.

You can take the easy route to White Oak Sinks along Schoolhouse Gap Trail but I wanted to spend the day in my happy place (the Smoky Mountains) so we took the long way along Chestnut Top Trail.  It's not a hard trail and really the only incline is as soon as you get on the trail from crossing the road at the Townsend Wye.

Chestnut Top Trail is 4.3 miles from Schoolhouse Gap Trail.  Once you reach Schoolhouse Gap, it's around a mile to White Oak Sinks.

Now sit back and enjoy the beautiful flowers!  :)
