We decided to change the name of this trail to Lady Slipper Lane.  It was a challenging day.  Much more than we were expecting.  But we saw so many beautiful things along the way.  And the weather could not have been any better!

I met this bear on my way up Newfound Gap Road.  He came up to smell my car for some reason.
 A Beautiful Columbine

On a tough trail, the sight of one of these signs is always a blessing....

Lady Slippers Every Where!!!!

Lunch break at the halfway point with this lovely butterfly.

The Mountain Laurel has begun blooming.

 Cucumber Root

I just thought this moss covered log was cool looking,  I love moss!

The creek crossings on this trail were very shallow and easy.

 Flame Azalea

Thought this was a beautiful bloom floating in the creek.

Overall, a wonderful day!  Thomas Divide only gains 500 feet total (but somehow it felt like 5000).  Newton Bald descended 2500 feet and is a narrow overgrown trail but very enjoyable.  It really didn't seem that steep while going down it but we were very glad we went down it rather than up it.
